The School of Engineering with the support of a network of partner companies, organizes plenty of educational activities.
Guest lectures
In the framework of the modules of their programme of studies, the College lecturers invite in their class guest lecturers from relevant professional branches and the Academy to convey the students the actual professional practices and results of scientific research.
Panel discussion & Conferences
The School organizes open speeches on topical Engineering, Production, Constructions and Energy issues.
Topics of recent panel discussion – conferences:
- Current developments in construction work technology
- Hygiene, safety and mental health at the workplace
- Renewable energy sources
- Road traffic accident – prevention and suppression
Seminars & Workshops
In cooperation with leading scientists, companies and professionals of the market, the School of Engineering organizes highly specialized laboratory and experiential seminars and workshops, closely related to the programmes of studies and targeted to enhance the professional skills of the students.
Indicative topics: Model-making, First aid at work, Design with Autodesk Inventor, Energy production and management.
Field trips
The School of Engineering organizes on average two field trips in hospitals, centres, museums and organizations every year. The students have a guided tour in the premises, learn about the operation and the provided services and come in contact with professionals of their field of studies.
Recent field trips: J&P Avax, METRO worksite, Alumil, ΤΙΤΑΝ, Traffic Management Center of Attica.
Participation in researches, conferences & contests
The students of the School of Engineering are encouraged to participate in contests organized either by the Mediterranean College or other bodies. Also, groups of students accompanied by their lecturers attend seminars of their field. The participation in contests and research projects is individual or in groups and always under the guidance of the lecturers. Regardless of the outcome, participating in contests is a valuable experience for the students and a quite important addition to their CV.
Recent activities:
- Participation in the conference “Environment and Development” organized by the Technical Chamber of Greece.
- Participation in the contest “Recycling Projects: 1st Student Recycling Competition” organized by the Mediterranean College
- Participation in the research entitled “Environmental Awareness: Recycling & Green Homes” organized by Mediterranean College.
Student Exhibition & Projects
In certain periods throughout the year, the students are invited to present their projects and diploma theses to their lecturers, fellow students, parents, candidate employers and the wider public. This is the Student Exhibition organized by the College and carried out in the form of model-making and prototyping, development of projects, presentations and poster presentations.
Internship
Internship gives the students major learning benefits, including access to the labour market. Despite the fact that the Engineering programmes of the Mediterranean College include no compulsory placement, students are encouraged to exploit the offered internship positions announced by the Career Office of the Mediterranean College. Many of the School students do their internship or work part-time in technical and industrial companies and in private engineer offices.
The students’ placement is supported by the Mediterranean College network of associated companies.
