We Create New Academic Standards
Taking into consideration five criteria, academic performance, original thinking, personality, volunteering, and social networking, Mediterranean college has sought candidates among the best students and alumni of the college, as well as among the best alumni of Greek public universities (A.E.I) and higher technical institutes (T.E.I), from 2013 onwards, to select those who have been distinguished for their excellence and extend an award to them.
There were 10 winners in the following 10 categories:

10. Health professions
The winners of this year’s Education Awards have been offered, along with the award, a scholarship for a postgraduate program at Mediterranean College, in the field of study of their distinction, as well as an opportunity for a career in one of the leading companies of the country. 35 leading business personalities, 20 of the best companies in the market, 10 big winners attended the Education Awards Ceremony which was held on Monday, October 12nd 2015. An aesthetically impressive event in the presence of 400 guests which took place at the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Grande Bretagne.
108 candidates attended the ceremony in order to find out the names of the winners of the 10 categories.
Highlight of the evening was the moment when Dr. John Stephen Bailey (who served as President of the American College in Greece from 1975-2008), was honored for his contribution to American education in Greece, by the President of the Mediterranean College, Professor, Mr. Sophocles Xinis.
The 10 winners are:
Business Award
McCain Foods, namely, Mr. George Gonos, CEO in South Eastern Europe, awarded Vasilis Makedonas the category winner. Mrs. Xanthi Papadaki, Head of HR Dept. in Mc Cain Foods appointed the “Job Interview” award.
Sports Award
Hellenic Olympic Winners Association – SΕΟ, namely, the President of SEO and Silver Olympic Water Polo Medalist, Mrs. Voula Kozompoli, awarded Malama Serkizi, the winner of the Sports category. The “Job Interview” award was appointed by Mrs. Christina Tsiligiri, General Director of Olympiakos FC, while the scholarship – on behalf of Mediterranean College – gave Mrs. Athanasia Tsoumeleka, Olympic Gold Medalist and member of the Hellenic Olympic Winners Association. Highlight of the event were the scholarships which were dispensed to Hellenic Olympic Winners, thus formalizing the cooperation between the two institutions.
Computing Award
Digea company and in particular the General Director, Mr. George Mathios, awarded Nikolaos Chronakis, winner of the Computing category. The “job interview” appointment was set by Mr. Konstantinos Antonis Michaelides, Director of HR Dept. in Digea.
Psychology Award
Mrs. Barbara Metallinou, President of Agalia, the Organization for the Protection of the unborn child, awarded Maria Svoliantopoulou, winner of psychology prize, while the Director of Ison Psychometrica company, Mr. Nikos Stathopoulos, offered the “Job Interview” appointment.
Education Award
Dr. Efstathios Michalopoulos, responsible for quality control of Blood Foundation for Biomedical Research of the Academy of Athens, gave the prize to Kiriaki Touratzidou winner of the category Education, while “job interview” appointment was offered by Mrs. Katerina Xini, General Manager of Mediterranean College.
Engineering Award
The Civil Engineer – Founder & President of the Hellenic Motor Museum, Mr. Theodore Charagionis awarded Bohdan Solodkov, the winner of Engineering category. Mrs. Marina Filippousis, Head of HR Dept. for Charagionis Group of Companies, set the “job interview” appointment.
Tourism Award
For the Tourism category and its winner, Constantinos Bolovinis, the prize was offered by the Managing Director of the Hotel Grande Bretagne/ Hotel King George & Area Manager in Greece, Cyprus and Balkans of Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Mr. Tim Ananiadis. The “job interview” award was set by Mr. George Dolaptsis, Host Manager of Hotel NJV ATHENS PLAZA
Marketing Award
The president of Plaisio Computers, Mr. George Gerardos awarded Vasileios Tsardaklis, the winner of the Marketing category. The “job interview” appointment was offered by the Commercial Director of Boussias Communications Company, Mr. Konstantinos Kintzios.
Social Media Award
MAD Channel’ s representative Mr. Constantine Tsakiridis awarded Athanasios Kotsoris, the winner of the Social Media category. The Commercial Manager of MAD Channel Mr. Lefteris Tsagkarakis offered the “job interview” appointment.
Award Health Professions
Eliana Zonga was the winner of this category. The prize was offered by the General Director of “ATTIKON” Hospital, Mrs. Evangelia Giannakakou, while the “job interview” appointment was set by the Director of Plastic Surgery Obstetrics Leto Hospital, Member of the British College of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Anastasios Tsekouras.
During the event, skype connections were established with 3 different cities of the world: Paris, Brussels and New York.
Mrs. Phyllis Ramtsiou, PhD candidate at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, speaking from Brussels, stressed the importance of Education Awards as a unique initiative, while referring to the European youth exchange programs.
Dr. Maria Pagonis – Andreane, Professor at the University of Lille in Educational Studies saluted from Paris, stating that anyone who is interested to continue his studies in France, is welcome to make contact with her.
Shortly before the end of the event, Mr. George Davis president of Davis Wealth Management Inc. and Stockbroker, greeted the Education Awards by congratulating the Coordinators.
Mediterranean College proved once again that Students remain in its core values and philosophy. For this reason Mediterranean College is proud to announce the launch of the procedures for Education Awards 2016.
