With great success and with two amphitheaters fully packed, the seminar “Contemporary Psycho-educational Issues” took place at the cultural center “Stoa tou Vivliou”, by Mediterranean College and Mediterranean Professional Studies.
The audience attended with great interest the lecture of Dr. Emmanouel Koliades, Professor of Education Psychology of the University of Athens, that pick real examples with psycho-emotional and psycho-social issues of children and teenagers, he used an interactive conversational approach of dealing issues with the audience, mentioning a series of feasible psycho-educational practices for the resolution of these issues.
The President of the Department of Psychology of Panteion University, Professor Robert Mellon lead on by developing the important subject “Punishment, Psychopathology and Psychotherapy” and by replying to the question how fruitful the punishment of a child or of an adolescent is. The professor stressed- among others-that specific problematic elements of behavior, such as the ideo-compulsion, aggression, stress disorders and the ADHD are results of the application of the punishment.
The seminar was completed by the teacher of special needs and director of the 2nd elementary school of Athens, Ms. Penelope Konisti, that she analyzed the important issue of the abuse by definition, while she explained analytically the process that must be followed not only by parents but also from the school and the social surrounding, by the moment of identifying a case of abuse.
At the abovementioned seminar, students and alumni from Schools of Psychology, Education, other Humanities, professionals, teachers and parents participated.
