Mediterranean College, both in Athens and Thessaloniki, has an official foundation and operation license granted by the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs according to law 4093/2012.
Professionally Equivalent Degrees to those of Public Higher Educational Institutes
According to the provisions of the new omnibus Law voted by the Parliament (L. 4093/2012, GOG 222, ISSUE Α, 12.11.2012), the professional rights of College graduates are finally recognized. Also, under legislative acts, significant issues of the Colleges are now regulated, including the recognition of Master degrees.
The application of this law results in the recognition of the professional equivalence of degrees awarded by College partner Universities to those awarded by Higher Educational and Technological Educational Institutes. As it is already known, it is set out that College graduates in Greece are able to assert positions of higher education graduates in the public and private sector, claim a promotion or better salaries, participate in programmes of OAED (Manpower Employment Organization) or other Organizations and generally enjoy all employment rights of Greek university graduates.
Article 7 stresses that “Colleges provide services for informal postsecondary education and training that offer exclusive studies through validation and franchising agreements with foreign higher educational institutes, accredited by the competent authorities of the countries they are established in, and lead to a bachelor’s degree of at least three years of studies or a master’s degree”.
In specific, the above-mentioned law has set out what colleges are and the procedure by which College students can gain professional equivalence, according to article 16 of the law, either as self-employed or employees or freelancers.
It is worth mentioning that the Mediterranean College, offers original Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes in collaboration with the University of Derby, UK (under a franchising agreement) and its graduates, after completing their studies at the College, are awarded the University degree which is professionally recognized in our country.
The degrees awarded are classified in levels 6 and 7 of the European Qualification Framework for Bachelor and Master degrees respectively.
The Mediterranean College now have the ability to follow the procedure set out by the law by applying in the competent authority for the recognition of the Professional Equivalence of their Degree.
