Based on five specific categories (facilities, quality of teaching, social life, employability of graduates, and third-party recommendations), this top British University is already ranked in the TOP 15 of the university rankings according to the Uni Compare Annual Student Review Rankings 2025.
This distinction adds to the gold award Derby has won twice under the “Teaching Excellence Framework 2023” for its exceptional level of teaching and learning outcomes it provides to its students (TEF GOLD). This recognition places the British University among the top in the country.
The TEF is a national programme administered by the UK Department for Education, aiming to encourage higher education providers to improve and deliver excellence in areas most important to students: teaching, learning, and achieving positive outcomes from their studies. In addition to achieving an overall Gold rating, in the two separate evaluations of TEF, Derby was awarded a Gold for student experience and a Silver for learning outcomes.

Since 2010, Mediterranean College has maintained a multifaceted strategic franchise partnership with the University of Derby, which continues to evolve and expand with the addition of new programs and services. This partnership mandates equivalence and alignment in Teaching & Learning practices between the University and the College, which MC achieves through a comprehensive system for selecting, integrating, training, and developing its teaching staff.
Specifically:
- Mediterranean College implements a comprehensive framework for evaluating, selecting, and integrating new faculty members. This process includes panel evaluations, microteaching sessions, induction seminars, and the provision of mentoring.
- Professors at Mediterranean College are granted the status of accredited lecturer by the University of Derby after thorough evaluation and approval by the University.
- Continuous feedback and teaching effectiveness for the College’s professors are achieved through a 360-degree evaluation process. This includes various methods such as peer observations, student questionnaires, and shadow teaching.
- The ongoing development of professors in teaching, learning, and assessment skills is supported by Mediterranean College’s comprehensive annual Faculty Training & Development Plan. This plan spans the entire academic year with specialized seminars and culminates in the Learning & Teaching Festival (LTF). The LTF is a three-day event held at the start of the academic year and includes the Annual Faculty Assembly, the Learning & Teaching Conference, and specialized lectures and workshops.
