You’ll evaluate major contemporary research and debates in HRM, including how HR practices influence business outcomes and how the value of the HR function can be measured. Covering issues of leadership, professionalism and ethics, this module looks at HRM developments in different sectors and different forms of organisations and enterprises. You’ll consider themes such as change management, flexible working initiatives, motivation and engagement within the workplace, the importance of the line manager role and the increasing emphasis on team working within organisations. This module aims to critically evaluate different perspectives on employment relations and the cooperation and conflict that varies between workplaces. You will justify how to improve levels of organizational performance and employee outcomes. You will review the role of collective bargaining, of arbitration, of conciliation and mediation. You will examine the design and implementation of grievance and disciplinary procedures to help mitigate risk and resolve problems. With this module we develop an understanding of the concept of diversity and inclusion, discussing a range of visible and non-visible dimensions that characterise different working population as well as aspects of intersectionality. Students will evaluate sociological persistence of patterns of segregation and inequality within the national and international labour market through theories such as Critical Race Theory, Critical Feminist Theory, amongst other critical studies. The module will also cover the legal, moral and business cases for managing diversity and developing a culture of inclusion and the effectiveness of different approaches. This module equips you with a set of analytical tools and techniques to enhance your professional development, personal effectiveness and credibility at work. With a strong focus on how to add business value to your organisation, it covers areas such as leadership, critical thinking and decision-making, managing financial information and budgets, team working and interpersonal skills, resolving conflicts, influencing and coaching. This module will deepen your understanding of the external, internal, business and managerial contexts of different organisations, including the impact of internationalisation and globalisation. You’ll explore the constraints within which HR practitioners work and how they make appropriate choices aligned with the objectives of their organisation. The growth of human capital has been identified as a key driver of competitive advantage for organisations. On this module, you’ll examine a range of talent management strategies to attract, identify, develop, engage, retain and deploy individuals with high potential. You’ll look at how talent can be fostered through learning and development interventions and how to evaluate the impact of such interventions on the ‘bottom line’. Independent Study normally forms a significant part of a master’s programme. This is a major piece of independently researched work, providing an opportunity to carry out an in-depth investigation of a management problem or issue that should normally have a strategic dimension which addresses organisational issues and provides a process for solving management problems. Application & Enrolment
Our MSc Human Resource Management is ideal for you, if you hold an undergraduate degree of any discipline with the necessary English language skills and you aspire to build a career in the human recourse sector.
The minimum English language requirement is equivalent to IELTS 6.5 (C1). If you do not possess an official English language certificate, you can sit the College’s internal placement test.
Moreover, you’ll be asked to submit a resume, as well as a recommendation letter from employers and tutors, and you’ll be called for an academic interview with the programme leader.
Evangelia Markaki holds a PhD and a post Doc in Applied Statistics and behavioral analysis from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She is the Scientific Director of Excellentia Int. consulting company and Project Manager in HRM projects in Greece & abroad. She provides career management services, coaching and outplacement programmes in organisations. In the private sector as head of HRM department, she is responsible for workforce planning, recruitment-selection processes, training - development programmes and performance evaluation. She conducted more than 4,600 interviews during the last years. Since 2009 she is associate lecturer in Universities in Greece and abroad. Yiannis Batsis Yiannis Batsis holds a BSc in Tourism Management, a PGDip in Quality Management (University of West Scotland), an MSc in Service Management and an MSc HR Management Athens University of Economics & Business). Yiannis has worked for leading Hospitality providers such as Costa Navarino, Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, recruiting over 1000 professionals and spearheading the Talent Development for 57.000 employees across Europe, Middle East & Africa. Dr. Mariana Papakonstantinou Marianna Papakonstantinou holds a Degree from the Department of Educational and Social Policy of University of Macedonia (major of Adult Education), a Master’s in Human Resource Development and Consulting from Lancaster University and a PhD in HRM from University of Macedonia. She acts as a referee in academic scientific journals and has significant lecturing experience in the context of Greek and Foreign Tertiary Education both in Athens and Thessaloniki. She has been working as an HR Professional in the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection (A.S.E.P.) since 2009 and she has also worked as an HR advisor in KPMG. Gerasimos Spiliotis has been in Human Resources Services for the last 15 years and has worked for Crème dela Crème Human Resources Services, Delta Singular, KPMG and Xrisi Efkeria. Mr Spiliotis is the founder of My Future Career which is a Center for Career Planning & Development. He is also editor in “Ergasia” magazine on subjects of career and Human capital development. Maria Tsachali, PhDc. Maria Tsachali is a psychologist certified in systems counselling and psychotherapy and a PhD candidate in the field of Organisational Psychology in Athens University of Economics and Business. She holds a BSc in Psychology from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences and a MSc in Human Resources Management from Athens University of Economics and Business.
