Recognition by the Greek State
Degrees awarded by Universities of the European Union or third countries, to students who have completed their studies in an accredited Greek College, are recognised as professionally equivalent -and thus lead to equal professional rights- to those awarded by Greek, State Universities. This recognition applies to both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
As a Mediterranean College graduate:
- You are qualified to participate in national employment competitions of the civil sector (ASEP) as a University graduate.
- You can apply for promotion or better remuneration in any organisation.
- You are eligible to issue a license to practice in your chosen profession, in the UK and in Greece.
- You can participate in employment initiatives/ programmes, funded by the national labour organisation (OAED) or other parties.
- You can pursue postgraduate studies in overseas universities.
The recognition process begins with applying to “ATEEN”, the Independent Department for the Implementation of EU Legislation at the Ministry of Education, which is responsible for examining all professional equivalence or professional capabilities applications. The recognition process can last up to four (4) months.

Recognition by the UK NARIC
All Mediterranean College graduates have their degree recognised by the UK NARIC (National Recognition and Information Centre), the Greek equivalent to DOATAP (former DIKATSA). NARIC assesses and certifies that the UK University qualifications (undergraduate and postgraduate), obtained through studying at Mediterranean College in Greece, are academically and professionally equivalent to those awarded to students that have studied at the University in the UK.
Greek Legislation context
The 38/2010 Presidential Decree enacts the alignment of national legislation to the EU Directive 36/2005 and regulates the professional recognition process of degrees awarded by European Universities, including those that are granted through collaborating, Greek Colleges.
The 4093/2012 legislative act introduces the concept of professional equivalence of degrees awarded by EU Universities to those awarded by Greek state Universities. Additional legislation clarifies the degree recognition implementation process.
