The 45th Graduation Ceremony of Mediterranean College (MC) was a resounding success, filling all participants with emotion, pride, and inspiration. The Graduates – the Protagonists of Their Dreams – celebrated their dedication, effort, and success in two spectacular ceremonies per day, held in:
Athens: 10 February 2025, at the Athens Concert Hall
Thessaloniki: 17 February 2025, at the Royal Theatre
This year’s graduation was not just a ceremony but a true celebration of inspiration and growth, where distinguished professionals and academics shared valuable experiences with the graduates.
Speeches
Keynote Speakers – Athens
- Mr Stefanos Xenakis, Entrepreneur & Author, urged graduates to leave a better world for future generations, highlighting the value of responsibility and action.
- Mr George Saliaris-Fasseas, General Manager of Strategy, Technology, and Development at Alter Ego Media, spoke about adaptability, the role of technology, and the importance of investing not only in material goods but also in acts of kindness.
Keynote Speakers – Thessaloniki
- Mr Argyris Tsaknis, CEO of A. Chatzopoulos S.A., emphasised that industrial and tourism businesses are ready to welcome new professionals, encouraging graduates to utilise their knowledge and skills to stand out in their careers.
- Dr Dimitrios Tsitsamis, Head of Innovation at Thessaloniki Port Authority S.A., highlighted the importance of taking action even in uncertain conditions. He stressed that knowledge alone is not enough – courage is what defines success. He urged graduates to redefine the rules and create their future on their own terms.
University Representatives
- Professor Alex Molasiotis, Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities & Education at the University of Derby, encouraged graduates to be bold, creative, and strive for a positive impact on the world.
- Dr David Atkinson, Associate Dean of Recruitment & Partnerships at the University of Wolverhampton, underscored graduates’ responsibility to use their knowledge for the common good.
- Mr Troy-Alexander Douglin, Course Leader at the University of Wolverhampton, stated: “Remember that you are the authors of your own story, and you define success on your own terms. No one else will do it for you. Whether you are pioneering, leading, or creating, always remember that you have the power to shape your future and become your dream.”
- Mrs Sarah Setchel, Chief People Officer at the University of Derby, wished graduates success in pursuing their professional ambitions, stressing: “Remember to be adventurous, seek knowledge, and use your creativity for the greater good. Whatever you do, do it with passion, complete dedication, and impact.”
MC Management
- Professor & Author Mr Sofoklis Xinis, Founder and Honorary President of Mediterranean College, spoke about meritocracy, hard work, and quality as the cornerstones of graduates’ professional success.
- Mrs Katerina Xini, General Manager of Mediterranean College, expressed her gratitude to the graduates for their trust, stating that if they feel stronger and wiser after their academic journey, then their efforts have truly paid off.
Highlights
Success Stories of Distinguished Executives & MC AlumniMost of them were graduates of Mediterranean College themselves. By sharing their journeys and advice, they encouraged new graduates to dare to pursue their dreams.
- Mrs Katerina Psora, a Civil Engineer based in London and a graduate of the BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering programme at Mediterranean College, shared her success story, urging graduates to step out of their comfort zones and chase their dreams.
- Mrs Kerasoula Papadopoulou, Counselling Psychologist, shared her personal experience, saying:”A few years ago, I was in your place, and I know very well what you have gone through to get here today. I want to assure you—believe in yourself and trust the process. Your journey may have many twists and turns, but do not be discouraged. Take risks, seize opportunities, and ask for help if you need it.”
Awards for Academic Partners
- Science Outreach Award – Mr Pavlos Kastanas, an individual dedicated to spreading scientific knowledge to the wider public. He is also the Academic Head of the School of Engineering at Mediterranean College.
- Highest Academic Distinction – Professor Title – Dr Pinelopi Louka, in recognition of her academic career and contributions to research, teaching, and scientific advancement.
- Lifelong Contribution to Academia Award – Professor Spyros Vliamos, for his lifelong contribution to university education and research. In his speech, he expressed his deep emotion, calling the award a great privilege and honour. He emphasised that the recognition of his work is the result of years of effort and encouraged the audience to pursue their own significant achievements.
